Finding peace

Where is peace?

It's hard to find peace in this crazy, mixed-up world. In fact, apart from finding that for which we were created, it's impossible.

We try hard, losing ourselves in ambition, relationships, success, or whatever. But it doesn't satisfy, does it? Nothing takes away that feeling of dis-ease, spiritual restlessness, and guilt.

And the more messed up and terrifying our life and world become, the more lost we feel.

I found it!

I was exposed to the concepts of sin and salvation through Jesus Christ at an early age, and asked His forgiveness and presence in my life. But as a young adult, I knew I had to have a more sure conviction that this was Truth to move forward with my life.  I couldn't live on the coattails of my parents' faith.

So I put it to Him. "God, I want You to show Yourself in my life. I want to know that I know that Jesus and salvation through Him are real, and that I really can trust you with my life."

He does not despise a true seeker; in fact, He eagerly welcomes one who wants to find Him, and is willing to obey the Truth when he sees it.

Oh my goodness, how He met me! I determined to read the Bible through, which I did—and which changed me. As I prayed and sought Him, every situation of my life became an adventure. He came through for me with miraculous answers and a million loving and personal touches. It was unmistakable—His love and welcome and reality spoiled me for any other kind of living. I found my true Home and identity—and peace—in His love.

Long story short--I have trusted Him and walked with Him for many years now. He has never failed me.  I cannot imagine living in the uncertainty and lostness of separation from Him. His Word is incredible and has become the daily clarity and understanding I need to live. He is the dearest and most goodness-filled Friend I could have.

How you can have peace

So--if you don't have peace with God, if you've never had the amazing experience of forgiveness and removal of heart-guilt, if you've never felt really loved, I invite you to take Jesus as your Savior. He was given for you--for each one of us personally--and promises not only cleanness, inner peace, and His power to live right, but eternal life of blessing with Him. It's almost too good to be true, but it is!

Here's a prayer you can pray to be saved:

"Lord, I come to You right now with the broken pieces of my life.
I confess that I have sinned and tried to live without You.
I repent and ask You to forgive me.
I take Jesus Christ as my Savior and Lord by faith, believing that You love me and want me as Your own. Thank You for loving me and giving me eternal salvation.
Please help me to live for You and bring You honor for Your goodness to me.
Thank You!! In Jesus' name I ask it."

If you prayed that prayer, you have been “born again”! The Bible says that angels are dancing for joy and the Lord Himself is rejoicing over you.  Now you'll have supernatural peace and His help in every area of your life. An eternity of joy and purpose in Him begins today!

Three of the most important things you can do right now are: 1) tell someone what has happened to you, 2) get a Bible and read it, especially the New Testament, and 3) find a Bible-believing church and get connected. There's wonderful and necessary strength that comes from fellowship with other believers. You'll get teaching to help you grow as a Christian and walk strong in the Lord.

Helps for your new life

Here are some helps for you to begin this life of faith.

Online Bibles and daily teachings you can read on your phone:

Here are a few Bible verses you can get started with:

For God loved the world so much that He gave His one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life.  God sent His Son into the world not to judge the world, but to save the world through Him.  John 3:16-17 (NLT)
Therefore, since we have been made right in God's sight by faith, we have peace with God because of what Jesus Christ our Lord has done for us. Because of our faith, Christ has brought us into this place of undeserved privilege where we now stand, and we confidently and joyfully look forward to sharing God's glory.  Romans 5:1-2 (NLT)

If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by confessing with your mouth that you are saved.   Romans 10:9-10  (NLT)
 Welcome to peace!
